Chadwick Boseman
A Forever Legacy
One of the brightest lights was turned down. Our King Chadwick Boseman made his transfer to heaven on August 29, 2020, a tragic day that will live on in history forever. Chadwick Boseman was born on November 29, 1976, in the lovely, scenic town of Anderson, South Carolina. He was described as "to be young, gifted, and black." Derrick was the oldest boy, Kevin was the middle child, and he was the youngest. Before his untimely demise, the world witnessed the instillation of family values, hard work, and faith in him by his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.
James Brown was one of the most significant roles Chadwick performed in the African American community. However, he gained prominence in 2018 when he appeared in the Black Panther as the fictitious King T'Challa of Wakanda. "Wakanda forever"
Black Panther was more than just a film but a major win for the representation of black people, in heroic roles. Chadwick was our first black King, and he did not disappoint both on and off-screen. Leading a life that was fit for a king.
The man who became our king, our pride, our joy, had been battling four-year-long colon cancer, and we had no idea, his wise decision to keep his sickness away from the public, meant all publicity was towards his career. That’s our king!
In the same breath, he made sure to bring awareness to cancer, he donated to cancer causes, visited kids, wrote to kids, he gave his all to the cause that was closer than anyone could have imagined.
Chadwick Boseman's life was a true gift to the current generation and many more to come; his memory will be greeted with acclaim and reverence. He was a real-life hero; his bravery and sense of purpose are difficult to comprehend; he fought for our tales throughout his life, not for financial gain, but rather for a greater good. What a monarch. Colon cancer is one of the most aggressive tumors there is, and in between treatments and chemotherapy, he found the strength to take on tasks that are important to the black community as a whole as well as to himself. He ruled as our king.
After completing Howard University (HU), Chadwick began his career as a director and writer. His academic journey led to opportunities that changed his life, such as a scholarship from the renowned Denzel Washington to attend Oxford's esteemed summer theatrical program. At the 47th AFI Awards in 2019, Chadwick publicly honored Denzel for obtaining a lifetime achievement, letting us in on this momentous occasion.
Chadwick had known since he was little what he intended to do. And that is to bring black experiences to life. Logan Coles, his brother and longtime friend, said in a moving tribute that Chadwick rejected the idea of representing black lives in a clichéd way when he was poor. His priorities included improving the lot of African Americans. He led an extraordinarily purposeful life.
In addition to his wife Simone Taylor Ledward and his friendship with Logan Coles, Chadwick has a number other particular relationships. When Chadwick and Logan first met in the school hallway at Howard University (HU), they instantly clicked and forged a bond that would last a lifetime. Logan and Chadwick did everything together, from producing movies to creating screenplays at four in the morning.
In 2019, we saw our King's Queen for the first time. Simone Taylor Ledward: the couple got engaged in 2019 after dating since 2015.
Boseman publicly thanked his wife for being there for him every day when he collected the Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture award at the NAACP Image Awards in March 2019.
Our Queen has been standing by our King for the past four years; their love story was and will always be lovely since it was sincere and genuine. Our tiny contribution to their love tale is every moment we photograph on the red carpets.
The audience can see that Chadwick hails from a close-knit family by reading the many touching tributes from his relatives, including his two brothers, nephews, nieces, and cousins. These tributes give us a unique glimpse into Chad's (as they nicknamed him) off-screen existence. We saw some of Chadwick's most treasured early photos, as well as images of him with his family. These were all such wonderful presents for his followers.
Chadwick was a great man—just a good man—who enjoyed acting, dancing, singing, and he could belt out a few lines. Even in his final hour, he remained a man of faith; he held fast to it and passed away with dignity and strength. Through the parts he played, his passion and presence will always be felt and seen; he will always be a part of our lives.
We shall always cherish and be proud of the legacy left by Chadwick "Chad" Boseman. We shall always cherish our King, Chadwick Boseman. "tell em, tell them what I went through to tell those stories"
