What In The BOOTY - The Butt story

The buttocks are made up of gluteus muscles and fat. But what exactly about the butt makes a story worth telling? Well according to yahoo.com data released on 18th September 2018, the buttocks top the attraction list. 80% of men find women with a larger butt more attractive than those with smaller butts. A bigger butt is sexually appealing.

The butt has over the years become a social media sensation, so much so that those with bigger bums have gone on to become social media influencers and an even darker side.  All for fame money and most importantly likes.

The standards of beauty have always changed from century to century, ancient Egypt regarded much slander narrow-shouldered women as beautiful. Naturally, this would change over the next years from slander to fuller-bodied women, to curvy women, big breasts, and even muscular built. This is not a new phenomenon, standardizing women's beauty has happened since the beginning of time. And women have hopped on the ship since.

Millennials are self-aware, changing narratives, setting trends but they too are still tied around the rope of standardized beauty, and unfortunately for this generation, social media does not make it easy. With billions of users on social media platforms every single day, the pressure to attain the perfect beauty has drastically increased, seeing the youngest patients being just 12 years old. Perfect is the goal and at the end of the rope is cooperation making billions.

Women spend billions on hair, skin, body, and clothes every year globally, we pride ourselves on looks and this has gravely affected our images, so much so that every year thousands of women undergo surgery to achieve the perfect look, from nose jobs, boob job, tummy tuck, and the infamous Brazilian butt lift. For those who can not afford proper healthcare, the are alternatives, the silicon injection which promises immediate results, and or creams that promise a rounder bigger butt.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons report dated 2009, breast augmentation topped the list, followed by implants removals. In 2021 butt surgeries were performed the most, and breast alignments were in 2nd place. So what in the butt has made these gluteus muscles and fat so desirable? It all goes back to social media. Social Media has become the new TV, better than TV Radio and/or print. This sensation is at the fingertips of billions every day, all looking at what they call "CONTENT"

Social media started off as a way of connecting with your family and friends and staying educated and informed, I laugh at this description as it can not be any further from the truth. It has become the top cause of depression among users, young and old, a top marketing tool as well as a sex trade site. The influence of social media is evident today through the numbers of young women seeking to look like the images on social media. The celebrities of today are not only talented singers, dancers, actors but also those with enough following on social media, dressing to impress, amazing body, to sum it up, those living a life much desirable to most.

Of course not all blame falls on social media, the bigger the bum has been popularized by musicians through exotic music videos, highlighting the buttocks, making it the standard of beauty, so have many other celebrities who have gone under the knife to get the perfect butt.

The butt is not only good for social media likes, but it can mean serious business. A lot of women make money through social media by advertising services and products, in order to be trusted by cooperates you need to prove your influence on their target market, the proof is by the engagement on the content put out on the platforms. The best way to get the engagement is by putting content that showcases perfection in form of body, fashion, and lifestyle.

And, the perfect social media pose!

The seemingly innocent desire to look perfect has a very dark side, unsafe procedures that have left many with lifelong illness and for some, fatal.

Many women are aware of the consequences of the surgeries, regardless of the practice or money spent, although chances of things going horribly wrong are very high with the cheaper route, with practices that are in the business of making money at all costs.

The online sex trade has also taken off, sellers and buyers are both online, and the market's minimum requirement is a beautiful butt.  Some of this social media sex trade has resulted in human trafficking and murder, but like most things, such dangers are ignored by those who aspire to like the social media high life.

The reality is this generation preaches self-love confidence and "just be yourself" but even the very advocates are victims of following the beauty standards, doing everything in their capacity to obtain it, to achieve perfection whilst spreading body positivity, the irony of it all.

Naturally, black women are curvy with naturally bigger buttocks, thighs, and hips. Even with this reality, black women are also on the list seeking a perfect body, with most of them desiring to enhance their existing figures.

As history would have it, African women with a bigger fuller figure were idolized,  to date they are phrases that praise women who are curvy.

"She was made well"
"She's a real woman"

To date, the ideal woman is fuller with big buttocks and hips, the hourglass shape. And the rest of the world has caught up to the phenomenon of the butt.
The butt has now become a global sensation. Every race every girl, the goal is to get that perfect round big but, all for confidence or if we are being honest, for the gram!

Beauty is unattainable, with its ever-changing standards and trends. And basing your confidence and self-love on the "it body" is the fastest way to highway low self-esteem. We are all created to be unique and beautiful, like flowers in the garden, different shapes sizes, and colors, each with a beauty so lovely to see.

We were not created to look like clones of each other, and plastic surgery does just that.
